As I made my way through Tre Bicchieri 2019, the wines got better and better. ZANNA, MONTEPULCIANO d'ABRUZZO COLLINE TERAMANE RISERVA by Illuminati, DOCG, Italy was one of the last I had the pleasure of experiencing - and it's definitely at the top of my list of favorites. At first glance, I knew this wine would be good. Zanna has an amazing garnet color, with hints of black fruits, licorice, dried flowers and mineral notes. Grown from the first vines to be planted on the Zanna estate, that average 45 years of age, on the average. Great with game meats and mushroom-based dishes.

Priced $35-$45, depending on the vintage
